Gym Etiquette
Know how to not piss off your fellow training partners by following these guidelines.
All students and attendees of 10th planet costa mesa are expected to follow these codes of conduct.
1. STUDENTS AND INSTRUCTORS: CHECK YOUR EGO. CHECK YOUR ATTITUDE.
2. BOW WHEN ENTERING AND LEAVING THE MAT AREA.
3. ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SHOES OR SANDALS WHEN YOU ARE OFF THE MAT. ABSOLUTELY NO BARE FEET IN THE BATHROOM.
4. KEEP FINGERNAILS AND TOENAILS NEATLY TRIMMED.
5. SHOWER AT HOME BEFORE CLASS
6. BRING CLEAN AND DRY CLOTHES TO CHANGE INTO AFTER CLASS - THIS IS A MUST!
7. WEAR A CLEAN RASHGUARD, SHORTS OR SPATS FOR CLASS - NO EXCEPTIONS!
8. IF YOU ARE SICK OR THINK YOU ARE GETTING SICK, DO NOT TRAIN. IF YOU HAVE ANY SKIN INFECTIONS, BUMPS, REDNESS, ETC. PLEASE ALERT THE INSTRUCTOR ASAP. DO NOT TRAIN UNTIL YOU ARE CLEARED FROM THE INSTRUCTOR.
9. IF YOU ARE LATE FOR CLASS, ENTER THE MAT AREA QUIETLY WITHOUT DISTRACTION. SHAKE THE INSTRUCTOR’S HAND AT YOUR FIRST OPPORTUNITY WITHOUT DISRUPTING THE CLASS.
10. SPARRING IS NOT A GAME OR CONTEST. THERE IS NO WINNER OR LOSER. THE GOAL IS TO LEARN, NOT TO WIN. YOU DO NOT HAVE AN OPPONENT, YOU HAVE A PARTNER. BE MINDFUL OF YOUR PARTNER’S HEALTH. IT IS YOUR DUTY TO PROTECT YOUR PARTNER. SPARRING IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED BUT ALWAYS OPTIONAL.
11. SET A GOOD EXAMPLE. LOWER RANKS ARE WATCHING YOU.
